The company announced today that it is establishing a Global Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Design and Engineering in Bologna, Italy. This move significantly strengthens TVS Motor’s global presence and long-term vision.

Acquiring a Racing and Design Powerhouse

To power this new center, TVS Motor is acquiring 100% ownership of Engines Engineering S.p.A., an Italian automotive design and engineering firm. This isn’t just any firm; it’s a specialist known for advanced prototyping, innovation in high-performance motorcycles, and deep experience in MotoGP racing.

This acquisition shows TVS Motor is serious about boosting its design and engineering capabilities to speed up the creation of its next-generation vehicles.

What the New Centre Will Do

The new Global Centre of Excellence will act as an innovation hub, taking concepts all the way to final products. By blending Engines Engineering’s specialized skills with TVS Motor’s existing global research and development (R&D) strengths, the company will:

  • Quickly get products to market.
  • Differentiate its products from competitors.
  • Strengthen its technological leadership.

The CoE will also directly support Norton Motorcycles, TVS Motor’s iconic British brand, helping it design and build modern luxury motorcycles with top-tier performance.

Leadership’s Take

Sudarshan Venu, Chairman of TVS Motor Company, commented on the milestone:

“Establishing our new Italian Global Centre of Excellence is another step in strengthening our capabilities and speeding up our journey to reimagine mobility. By combining the creativity and racing expertise of Engines Engineering with our own engineering and design strengths, we can now better deliver premium, connected, and electric vehicles that set new global standards. Crucially, this Centre will also boost Norton’s ability to craft exceptional high-performance motorcycles that both honor its iconic legacy and elevate its future ambitions.”

Key Focus Areas

The new CoE will concentrate on three main areas:

  1. Top-Tier Design & Engineering: Pushing the limits with digital simulation, rapid prototyping, and flexible platform development to ensure new products are industry leaders in performance and reliability.
  2. Future Mobility: Accelerating the use of AI-driven design tools, advanced materials, and digital integration to build vehicles that are connected, sustainable, and intuitive for users.
  3. Global Talent: Becoming a magnet for world-class talent and building a global ecosystem that brings together universities, startups, and technology leaders to co-develop and rapidly scale up innovative solutions.

The Result

This initiative will allow TVS Motor to cut down product development time and expand its premium vehicle line-up. This includes high-displacement motorcycles, advanced scooters, and new electric mobility platforms. For Norton, this means an even stronger pipeline of high-performance luxury motorcycles.

Ultimately, this move aligns with TVS Motor’s broader goal: to use compelling and sustainable mobility solutions to improve the quality of life for people around the world.
