Chandigarh: In a thrilling milestone for superbike enthusiasts and racing purists across the country, BMW Motorrad India has announced the sale of 1,000 units of its flagship supersport motorcycle – the BMW S 1000 RR. This achievement highlights the growing appetite for high-performance motorcycles in India and cements the S 1000 RR’s reputation as one of the most iconic and desirable superbikes in the segment.

The 1,000th unit of the BMW S 1000 RR was handed over at an exclusive ceremony in Delhi, marking a significant achievement for the brand’s performance portfolio in India.
🏁 A Superbike of Superlatives
Often described as the “superbike of superlatives”, the BMW S 1000 RR is revered globally for its race-derived engineering, track-focused dynamics, and cutting-edge technology. Since its introduction in the Indian market, it has remained the bike of choice for racing enthusiasts, collectors, and performance purists who seek precision, power, and unparalleled control.
Commenting on the milestone, Mr. Vikram Pawah, President and CEO, BMW Group India, said:
“The BMW S 1000 RR is more than just a motorcycle. It is the embodiment of precision engineering, absolute performance, and dynamic excellence. Crossing the 1,000-unit mark in India reflects the superbike’s immense popularity and enduring appeal. On the road or on the racetrack, the S 1000 RR continues to deliver adrenaline-fueled experiences and remains a symbol of motorcycling passion.”
🎉 Celebrating the 1,000th Owner
The 1,000th BMW S 1000 RR was delivered to Mr. Varun Yadav from Delhi by Mr. Shardenduu Chaturvedi, Director of BMW Motorrad India, and Mr. Manish Gupta, Dealer Principal at Lutyens Motorrad, during a celebratory handover ceremony. The event brought together Mr. Yadav’s family, friends, and fellow riders from the BMW Motorrad India community, creating a festive atmosphere that matched the spirit of the occasion.
🆕 The New BMW S 1000 RR: Designed to Dominate
Unveiled earlier this year at Auto Expo 2025, the latest iteration of the BMW S 1000 RR raises the bar for performance motorcycles in India. The superbike icon now features an even more aerodynamic design, enhanced power output, and numerous track-focused upgrades.
Key design enhancements include:
-
Aerodynamic winglets and a higher windscreen for increased downforce and top-speed stability
-
Brake cooling ducts (Brake Ducts) around the front wheel for better brake performance
-
Lower triple clamp partitioning for added aerodynamic efficiency
-
M short-stroke throttle for improved throttle response and reduced rider fatigue
Under the hood, the new S 1000 RR is powered by the revered 999cc inline-four engine equipped with BMW’s ShiftCam Technology. It churns out:
-
210 hp at 13,750 rpm
-
Maximum engine speed of 14,600 rpm
The engine architecture is complemented by variable intake funnels, similar to those found in the M RR, which optimise airflow and combustion efficiency at high speeds.
🛣️ Performance Meets Everyday Usability
While the BMW S 1000 RR remains a track weapon, it continues to appeal to enthusiasts for its daily usability, thanks to:
-
Lightweight chassis and advanced aerodynamics
-
Electronic rider aids, including traction control, dynamic suspension adjustment, and multiple riding modes
-
Rider-focused ergonomics that allow for comfort without compromising performance
These features make the S 1000 RR equally thrilling on highways and track days, ensuring a complete riding experience.
📈 India’s Growing Love for Performance Bikes
The achievement of 1,000 units sold is not just a milestone for BMW Motorrad India but also a testament to the rising demand for high-performance superbikes in India. With improving road infrastructure, growing disposable incomes, and a surge in performance biking culture, India is emerging as a priority market for global motorcycle brands.
BMW Motorrad has already made significant inroads with its varied portfolio, including models from the G 310 series, the adventure-focused GS range, and the heritage-inspired R nineT line-up.
