Chandigarh: In a significant move aimed at enhancing customer convenience and promoting financial inclusion, Bank of Baroda (BoB)—one of India’s leading public sector banks—has announced the waiver of charges for non-maintenance of the Monthly Average Balance (MAB) in all standard savings accounts, effective July 1, 2025. Under the new policy, Bank of Baroda customers maintaining regular savings accounts will no longer be penalized for not meeting the minimum average balance requirements. Initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) have already laid the foundation for inclusive banking. What Remains Unchanged

Customers holding premium, gold, or other value-added savings accounts will continue to be subject to the specific terms and conditions of those products, including balance requirements and related fees.

Additionally, this policy does not impact other banking fees and charges such as those for ATM withdrawals beyond free limits, cheque book issuance, SMS alerts, or account statements.

The Bank has emphasized that while the charges are waived, it still encourages customers to maintain a healthy balance and practice good financial habits. “A savings account is more than just a place to park money—it’s a starting point for building financial security,” a bank spokesperson noted.
