Chandigarh: Bank of Baroda (BoB), one of India’s leading public sector banks, commemorated the nation’s 79th Independence Day with a blend of patriotic fervour and forward-looking initiatives. At its Corporate Office in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai, the celebrations were led by Dr. Debadatta Chand, Managing Director & CEO, along with Executive Directors, senior officials, and employees of the Bank. The day was marked by the flag hoisting ceremony and a series of programs highlighting sustainability, vigilance, and national pride.
Inauguration of “bob Forest” – A Green Oasis in Mumbai
The highlight of this year’s celebration was the inauguration of “bob Forest”, a 6,000 sq. ft. green space developed within the Bank’s BKC premises. Conceived as a step towards urban greening and biodiversity conservation, bob Forest has been designed as a micro green habitat in the heart of Mumbai.
Spread across the premises, the forest features:

Over 100 indigenous trees and shrubs native to the Sahyadri mountain range and Western Maharashtra.

A rainwater harvesting system to promote water conservation.

Compost-based soil enrichment to enhance sustainability.

Eco-friendly seating areas and walking pathways, encouraging employees and visitors to reconnect with nature.

A solar-powered gazebo, oxygen generators, and a bio-gas plant as part of the Bank’s larger environmental goals.
This initiative reinforces the Bank’s commitment to sustainability and climate responsibility, making its premises not just functional spaces but also contributors to ecological well-being.
Speaking at the inauguration, Dr. Chand said, “Independence Day is an opportune time to renew our pledge to our country and recommit ourselves to the values of unity, resilience, and progress. At Bank of Baroda, we strive to uphold these values daily as we diligently serve our customers and contribute to the nation’s growth. This year, we have also taken another step forward in our environmental journey through our urban greening efforts.”
Strengthening Security with Updated Compendium
Another key initiative unveiled was the release of the Updated Security Compendium, a comprehensive document consolidating the Bank’s latest internal security guidelines. Covering physical security, operational risk management, and emergency response procedures, the compendium also integrates updated regulatory guidelines.
The release reflects the Bank’s focus on fostering a culture of vigilance and preparedness across all branches and offices nationwide. By strengthening its internal systems, Bank of Baroda aims to enhance trust, ensure customer safety, and remain resilient in a fast-evolving financial landscape.
Nation-Building and Employee Engagement
The Independence Day celebrations at BoB’s Corporate Office also included cultural programs and employee participation, bringing together staff and their families in a spirit of unity. The tricolour unfurled proudly at the premises served as a reminder of the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters and the collective responsibility to carry forward their vision of progress.
In alignment with the Government of India’s call, Barodians across the country actively supported the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, proudly displaying the national flag at homes, workplaces, and bank premises. The campaign once again highlighted the collective spirit of patriotism among employees and citizens alike.
