Empowers Indian and NRI Customers with Seamless Cross-Border Digital Payments & Remittances
Chandigarh: Bank of Baroda (Bank), one of India’s leading public sector banks, has taken a major step forward in its digital banking journey by introducing global capabilities to its Unified Payments Interface (UPI) application, bob इ Pay. The enhanced version of the app now supports three significant international services – UPI Global Acceptance, Foreign Inward Remittance, and UPI Services for NRIs – allowing customers to make secure, real-time, cross-border payments and remittances with unprecedented ease.
With this launch, Bank of Baroda aims to empower both resident Indian customers and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with a comprehensive, hassle-free digital payment experience, strengthening its position as a leader in innovative banking solutions.
Driving Digital Transformation Across Borders
Speaking at the announcement, Shri Sanjay Mudaliar, Executive Director, Bank of Baroda, said:

Three Key Services Introduced Under bob इ Pay International
1. UPI Global Acceptance
Bank of Baroda customers can now make QR code-based payments to international merchants directly from their Indian bank accounts using the bob इ Pay app. This service is operational in 8 countries that currently accept UPI:

This means that customers travelling abroad can shop, dine, or pay for services without worrying about foreign currency cards or cash. Transaction details, including amounts in both the international and Indian currencies, along with exchange rates and applicable fees, will be displayed upfront, ensuring full clarity and transparency.
2. Foreign Inward Remittances from Singapore
With this feature, Bank of Baroda customers in India can now receive instant 24×7 remittances from Singapore residents for the purpose of family maintenance.

Singapore residents simply enter the recipient’s UPI ID/VPA in the bob इ Pay app.

The sender enters the amount in Singapore Dollars (SGD), and the beneficiary in India receives the funds directly in Indian Rupees (INR) in their UPI-linked bank account.
This initiative opens the door for faster, cheaper, and more efficient cross-border remittance flows, especially for families dependent on overseas income.
3. UPI Services for NRIs
Bank of Baroda’s NRI customers can now send and receive money via UPI using the bob इ Pay app.

NRIs visiting India can link their NRE/NRO accounts to the app using a domestic mobile number.

They can then make seamless UPI payments at merchant outlets or conduct peer-to-peer fund transfers just like any resident customer.
This eliminates the need for multiple payment apps or cash handling during visits to India, offering convenience and integration within a single platform.
Transaction Limits & Accessibility
For all three international UPI services, the per transaction and daily limit remains at ₹1,00,000, aligning with the domestic UPI transaction cap. This ensures ease of use while maintaining security standards.
The bob इ Pay app is available for both customers and non-customers of Bank of Baroda and has already attracted 1.3 million registered users in a short span. The app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and users can activate the desired international services directly via in-app settings.

This expansion marks a significant milestone in India’s ongoing digital payments revolution. With NPCI’s UPI platform already witnessing global interest, initiatives like bob इ Pay International are expected to drive adoption and awareness across geographies.
