Chandigarh – Kalyani Strategic Systems Ltd. (KSSL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bharat Forge Limited, has secured significant contracts from the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) valued at over ₹2,500 million (₹250 crores) for the supply of advanced underwater systems.
The contracts, formally signed on November 10, 2025, mandate delivery within a year, aligning with the MoD’s Fast Track procurement norms. This crucial timeline means the systems must be supplied by November 2026, underlining the urgent and mission-critical nature of the Indian Navy’s requirements.
KSSL has rapidly built formidable capabilities in the realm of unmanned marine systems over the past five years. The company’s focus on design, development, and production has already resulted in the supply of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) that are currently in service with the Indian Navy, validating KSSL’s technological expertise and reliability.
The Underwater Domain is a key strategic focus area for KSSL, alongside its established capabilities in naval guns and marine equipment. This new contract reinforces KSSL’s commitment to self-reliance and its deep alignment with the nation’s defence modernization goals.
“We are ramping up our capabilities to be closely aligned with the Indian Navy’s urgent and mission-critical requirements,” said a company representative. “We remain committed to ensuring timely delivery of these advanced solutions, thereby contributing significantly to securing our seas.”
This successful bid marks another milestone for KSSL in contributing to India’s defence preparedness and enhancing its capabilities in the crucial maritime and sub-surface warfare space.
