Chandigarh : Ride-hailing and delivery major Uber announced record festive season demand for its delivery services, Uber Courier and Uber Courier XL, marking the highest usage since the products were launched in India. Riding on the surge, the company unveiled plans to expand Uber Courier to over 10 additional Indian cities in 2026.
Uber Courier and Courier XL are currently available in 25 cities across India and have witnessed rapid adoption as users increasingly rely on Uber for sending gifts, essentials, and other items during both festive and regular periods. The company stated that the two delivery products have become integral to daily life in urban as well as semi-urban centers, driven by their fast, reliable, and affordable service model.
Shiva Shailendran, Director of Consumer Growth, Uber India and South Asia, said, “Uber Courier is redefining convenience by giving people a simple, reliable way to move what matters to them. From festive gifts to daily essentials, users are trusting us with deliveries that truly count. The strong growth we’re seeing reflects how deeply these products are resonating with our users and how they’ve become part of everyday life.”

Uber Courier has emerged as one of Uber’s fastest-growing categories in India. The company observed a sharp spike in courier bookings this festive season, with demand peaking around Diwali and Rakhi. Users relied heavily on daytime delivery slots between 11 AM and 4 PM for sending gifts and essentials. Commonly sent items included clothes, electronics, medicines, packaged food, and accessories.
The company highlighted that the service not only meets individual delivery needs but also creates significant earning opportunities for drivers on its platform. Nearly half of all Uber Bike drivers took part in courier deliveries during the festive period. This dual-use model enables drivers to maximize income while ensuring quick and efficient last-mile service for customers.
For small and medium businesses (SMBs), Uber Courier provides an easy-to-use, on-demand logistics solution to complete local deliveries. Restaurants, apparel boutiques, pharmacies, and online sellers have especially benefited from the service’s reliability during peak shopping periods, enabling them to reach customers faster without additional logistics costs.
Uber Courier XL, designed for larger and bulkier items, also saw a significant increase in use. Popular categories included sports goods, crockery, small furniture, textiles, and hardware items. The heaviest delivery days were recorded on Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays leading up to Diwali — a sign that customers and businesses alike are embracing on-demand logistics at scale.
As Uber deepens its presence in the growing same-day delivery marketplace, it aims to accelerate its rollout into Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities over the coming year. With India’s on-demand delivery market expanding rapidly, the company is looking to leverage its technology platform and strong local driver network to meet the evolving expectations of consumers and businesses.
Uber said its continued investment in technology, fleet efficiency, and regional reach underscores its commitment to supporting India’s dynamic logistics landscape.
