Panchkula: The four-day Durga Puja festival commenced in Panchkula on Sunday with the formal inauguration of the 18th annual celebrations by the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh.
The grand ceremony was held at the Community Center in Sector 20, Panchkula. The event is being organised by the Tricity Durga Bari, a youth-led organization known for its socio-cultural and charitable activities in the region.
The Governor, accompanied by his wife, Mitra Ghosh, took part in the traditional rituals and extended his greetings to the people. Addressing the gathering, Professor Ghosh emphasised that the festival represents more than a religious observance. He described Durga Puja as a “reaffirmation of eternal values such as righteousness, courage, and the triumph of good over evil.”

Four Days of Festivity
This year’s celebration runs from Sunday, September 28, to Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The festivities are a major draw for the community, attracting visitors from across the Tricity, including Panchkula sectors, Peer Muchalla, Zirakpur, and Dera Bassi, with a daily footfall expected to be between 2,000 and 3,000.
Mr. Palash Das, Hon’ble General Secretary of the Tricity Durga Bari Organizing Committee, expressed his gratitude, stating, “We are deeply honoured to welcome the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana to inaugurate our Durga Puja. This festival unites the entire community.”
Event Highlights
The venue will host a vibrant cultural and social gathering daily from 9:30 AM to 10:30 PM. Key highlights of the celebration include:
- A variety of vibrant food stalls offering festive delicacies.
- Displays of arts and crafts.
- Property and car exhibitions.
- A community Bhandara (communal meal) organised for three consecutive days at noon.
- Diverse cultural programs scheduled every evening.
