Aurangabad (Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar), July 13, 2025 — In a significant boost to industrial skill development and innovation capacity in Maharashtra, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) announced the upcoming establishment of a 20,000 sq. ft. Skill Development Centre at Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The partnership is expected to be formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) next week.
This announcement was made by Shri Amardeep Singh Bhatia, Secretary, DPIIT, during his visit to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar on July 12, 2025. The visit was aimed at reviewing the progress of startup ecosystems, industrial infrastructure, and policy convergence in the region.
🌐 AURIC: Maharashtra’s Emerging Industrial Smart Hub
Aurangabad Industrial City (AURIC) — developed under the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) project — is fast evolving as a model smart city. The planned Skill Development Centre will play a central role in equipping youth and professionals with industry-relevant skills, aligning with local employer needs in high-value sectors such as automobile, electronics, green technology, and pharmaceuticals.
“The centre will serve as a catalyst for nurturing local talent, enhancing employability, and attracting Global Capability Centres (GCCs) and R&D investments,” said Shri Bhatia. He emphasized the central government’s vision to position AURIC as a hub of innovation, high-end manufacturing, and sustainable urban development under the Viksit Bharat@2047 roadmap.

A stakeholder consultation was held at the AURIC Hall and was chaired by Secretary Bhatia, drawing participation from key industry bodies including CII, FICCI, ASSOCHAM, CMIA, and MASSIA. The interaction focused on:

The visit began at the Marathwada Accelerator for Growth and Incubation Council (MAGIC), where Secretary Bhatia met with startup founders, incubators, and young entrepreneurs. He lauded their innovative spirit and reiterated the government’s robust support through schemes such as Startup India, Fund of Funds for Startups (FFS), and sector-specific production-linked incentives (PLI).
“The government is focused on empowering Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities to become self-sustaining innovation clusters,” he noted.
