India’s rapid growth in digital payments, online public services, and data-driven governance makes it critical to protect digital infrastructure from future threats. As quantum computing matures, current encryption standards like RSA and ECC are at risk of being broken, exposing sensitive data and systems.

“Quantum readiness is a strategic imperative as we prepare for the disruptive potential of quantum technologies, especially in cybersecurity,” said Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY.

🧩 About the Whitepaper

The whitepaper serves as a comprehensive guide for public and private sector organizations to begin their quantum-safe migration. It:

  • Assesses the impact of quantum computing on current encryption systems

  • Outlines quantum-resistant algorithms for future security

  • Recommends actionable steps for integration into existing IT frameworks

  • Focuses on sectors like national security, BFSI, healthcare, and government services

It calls upon companies and institutions handling critical infrastructure, public service data, and financial transactions to identify and address vulnerabilities in their cybersecurity systems.

🤝 Collaboration is Key

CERT-In Director General Dr. Sanjay Bahl emphasized the importance of public-private collaboration, saying:

“We must evolve our security frameworks today to protect India’s expanding digital infrastructure tomorrow. Our partnership with SISA demonstrates how private-sector innovation can align with strategic national objectives.”

SISA CEO Dharshan Shanthamurthy added:

“Quantum computing isn’t just faster processing—it redefines the foundations of cybersecurity. India’s digital systems need future-proof encryption and real-time threat visibility.”

🔭 A Vision for the Digital Future

The launch marks a forward-thinking approach to protecting India’s digital-first economy. The whitepaper is tailored for regulated industries like banking, healthcare, and government, combining technical recommendations with strategic insight.

“This document isn’t just guidance—it’s a call to action for organizations to prepare for the future, today,” said MeitY in a statement.
